He provides consultancy services in groundwater development and management. The aim is to provide a sustainable source of groundwater to individuals, farmers, industries, and oil and gas field operators within the government’s regulatory framework.
He worked for the oil and gas exploration and production MNC “Cairn India” as an Advisor-Hydrogeologist. While working in the government sector, he has served as the Principal Investigator of many Department of Science and Technology, GoI-sponsored R&D projects.
He has a vast and wide range of experience in exploration, development, and management of groundwater in diverse types of hydrogeologic conditions. He is a specialist integrated water management in oil and gas fields.
He has completed his graduation in Geology (Honours) with first class from Patna University (PU), Patna. Thereafter, he completed his M.Sc. Tech in Applied Geophysics with a first class from the Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad, India. Then he completed a PhD in hydrogeology from Patna University, Patna.
He has published or presented 68 scientific papers. He was also a UNDP Fellow (through the Dept. of Science & Technology) at CSIRO/CGS Perth, Australia for GIS-based Groundwater Modelling.
He has more than 33 years of experience in the areas of groundwater exploration (geophysical, geo-hydrological, remote sensing and GIS based), high-capacity water well field and well design, waste water disposal in deep aquifers, development of groundwater information systems, and development of flow–solute–reactive transport models of hard rock, alluvial, marginal alluvial, and sedimentary basin aquifers. He also has expertise in using flow and solute transport models for impact assessment of lignite mining dewatering. He also has expertise in modelling of land subsidence due to aquifer desaturation and the development of physical measurement mechanisms for land subsidence monitoring in heavily used aquifers. He also has expertise in hydrochemistry and hydro-chemical database management and hydro-chemical modelling. He also has expertise in developing monitoring networks and contamination risk analysis of hazardous landfills. He has considerable experience in evaluation, supervision, and implementation of large groundwater projects.
